HALLOWEEN

HAPPY HALLOWEEN~

What I like most about Halloween is the great stories about Halloween, and, Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin! Charlie Brown and his Great Pumpkin, ha~

So many historical facts about Halloween which originated with the Celts, about 2,000 years ago. It was an Eve called Samhain, which was celebrated on October 31st, the Eve before their official New Year.

Now, these people believed that on this night, that the realm of the worlds between life and death became blurred, and they believed that ghosts returned to the Earth to cause damage to the crops and cause problems for humans. To celebrate, they would build huge bonfires, where they would burn crops and animals as sacrifices to the deities. They would dress in animal skins and wear animal heads, hoping to conjure up prophecies, as they believed that when the worlds melded that the psychic channels were honed, especially for the Celtic Druids, who were Celtic priests... These prophecies were looked forward to as they felt that they would know what the long winter would hold.

When the celebration ended, they would relight their hearth fires, which had gone out in their absence, with fire from the bonfire, for they felt that it would protect them in the winter months...

Interesting....

Of course, Halloween is also the basis for All Saints Days and All Souls Days as well, and, as it became part of the Catholic religion, it was celebrated much as the Celts did, with costumes of devils, and other such... These Holidays are celebrated on Nov. 1st and Nov. 2ND, so, one can see the correlation... According to history a Pope started the tradition based on the Celtic celebration and it has been since...

Ghosts, ghouls, devils, bats, creepy crawlers, and every other imagined fright is used to celebrate Halloween. So many countries celebrate it, each with their own festivities. It is a day of great anticipation and excitement, for sure...
Here where I live, they have Devil's night, which is the night before Halloween, which is tonight. It is so bad, that they have Angel patrols to keep the Devils from total destruction. Many a house and business have been burnt to the ground on this night. Strange custom, eh?
Well, have a fun and scary Halloween and be safe out there~
