THE TRUCKER (CONT.)

As Mike got into the flow of traffic, he switched on some music. It helped him to handle the road better. Being tired and driving were not a good combination; that he knew...

The CD he selected was Led Zeppelin's Greatest Hits. There was just something motivating about the sound, and, he loved to sing the words... Brought back many good memories as well. One in particular which always left him a bit sad, but, the music usually drowned it out before he got too nostalgic...

There had been a woman a time back whom he had loved the second he saw her. She was the kind of woman who just blew him away. She was petite, very attractive, cute, fun-loving, and, in her eyes he saw the sexiest person alive. Which she really was, he found out....

They had hit it off on sight. He had a day of off time in Los Angeles, and, was in a local club near the beach when he spotted her on the dance floor. She was having so much fun, he just couldn't stop watching her, and, wow! could she dance! It was quite a while before she stopped dancing, and came up to the bar to get a drink.

He smiled at her, and, she, being the outgoing and friendly person she was, came over to where he was seated and said, "Hi!" He almost melted when she looked into his eyes, there was just something about them... They chatted for a while, he bought her a coke and himself another Labatt's. She asked him to dance and he told her he would rather watch her. She smiled and off she went to further tantalize him... Mmmmmmmmmmm, those were the days...

Mike had been lost in his thoughts and it was apparent that there was a traffic problem ahead. He slowed down as fast as he could, he was worried that he was going to slam right into and through the car or two ahead of him. He downshifted, put the brakes to the floor and used the emergency brake. He was sure that he was burning rubber, as he smelled it...

Within 6 inches, the truck finally came to a stop. Mike was shaking, he could have injured some people badly, and, that would have ruined him for life, plus, he knew that if he had rammed into or through another vehicle that made him unworthy of his job as a truck driver...

More to come...
