ALABASTER LIES...

In this commune, if you will, there lives 39 people, ranging in age from 17 to 77. Ina is the youngest, and the Master is the oldest. The average age is 30 something...

The Master is a man of great principle, and even greater intelligence, though, his compassion levels are less than desirable. He tries to run his people with an iron fist, but, at his age, even though they respect him, they are prone to question his directives, and at times, flat out argue with him. He does not respond to challenges well, and will sulk, pout; which creates further wedges between his chosen few, and himself. He has a wife, who is in her late 60's, she is very quiet, and tends to refrain from too much involvement with the others, though, she does most of the cooking, and oversees the household. And so, with these two personalities, there is reason for others to ponder change...

Ina has a personal attendant who is in charge of almost everything Ina does. She is 22 years old, and like Ina, an orphan. The Master favors both girls, but, he expects too much of both of them. When they were younger, they used to be close, however, the Master was able to tear them apart, by filling each of their heads with talks which made each of them doubt the sincerity of the other. Now, I know I said that the Master was extremely principled, still, he is not perfect, plus, he is from the old school of Master's, and does things to fit his own agendas, often, not realizing that what he has done is unethical, or not for the best of the whole situation. He is a stern man, from the mountains of Nepal, raised in luxury, and used to making his way, THE way...

There was something brewing around her, Ina could sense it. She could feel it, and could not dismiss it, for she was trained to an almost perfectly honed sensitivity to the thoughts, and actions of those around her. It was her gift, the Master had told her, as he spent countless hours training her. He told her that it was a wonderful gift, and would serve the community, and herself well, throughout life. It is a fine gift, if it is used effectively...

Ina asked her attendant if she had noticed, or heard anything going on. The girl, whose name is Savitah, lied to her mistress, and said, "No". "Why do you ask this of me"? Ina knew easily that the girl had lied, and told her, "I don't know why, I was simply asking". Which means that purity was beginning to shatter in the alabaster confines of the world in which she lived. Ina was troubled, for she had never lied before, but, this girl, Savitah, had done it to her, and not wanting to reveal her instincts, she had returned the lie. Ina rushed out of the room, and went for a walk along the beautiful Zen gardens, feeling as if she had betrayed the world, and the Heavens above...

More to come...
