Being a writer in these times is like being a straw in a haystack, there are millions comprising the hay stack, but, only a minimal number of them are strong enough to support the whole of the stack...
Luckily, there are also more readers, so, this means that writers from all venues can find some audience, which is fine, but, how does a writer make it big these days, even though they might excel in their skills???
The channels of the past are no longer open for writers, for everyone is a writer, and publishers of every kind are overwhelmed with submissions, and so, the writer has become more than creative with marketing their work(s), which requires a lot of research of current trends, syndication, and many other elements useful to breaking the mold that you are noticed, read, and accepted...
It used to be you could contact a publisher, now they advise you not to, as you will be lost in a sea of contacts. You see, as a writer, you are up against more odds than you can imagine, and like I said, these days EVERYONE is a writer, some with marketing skills like most of us would never dream of, others with the tools and means to publish and market their own works, and well, you get the picture...
Should this stop or deter an aspiring writer? Never. Hang in there, use every available resource, research, freelance, and get your name around the board. It is like an aspiring musician or artist, never give up the dream....Never!!!!
I am going to be offering certain resources for aspiring writers, certain marketing tips, and certain tricks to getting noticed and eventually published, as, I too, really have to learn how to manipulate the sea of writers, navigate to the sea of publishers, and find ways to syndicate what I can...
Articles writers are being used left and right, we all know that, and it is a place to start. If you have a particular skill and experience which you can use on a resume to companies which seek writers with that particular skill, then try this also. Whatever you can do to keep the words flowing, to get your name established, and to make a few bucks along the way, do it! Forget the billions of writers who are before, around and behind you, they are not you, they do not have your style, your intent, or your certain talent, all of which are as individual as you are...
