LIFE IN THE END TIMES...

This is my home, a shelter in the Earth. This is what it came to be after a massive World War which began in the name of the Holy one. The war was called the Jihad by some, and the end time by others, it was a long ensuing war, with bitter results, and wiped out most of humanity...

There are few of us left; those of us who are survivors, probably cannot survive long, although, as you can see, greenery is returning to the charred soils, which means that life form is re- birthing, but, we are scarred from nuclear radiation, and have been eating foods which are probably contaminated as well. My body is so scarred, you could not tell whether I am female or male, except by my mannerisms. I often wish I had not survived, for what is left? Nothing, absolutely nothing. However, I believe that the Creator had a special reason for keeping me, and a handful of others, alive. Perhaps it is because we are skilled healers, farmers, or skilled in areas which will give life to the horrible destruction left behind. That is all which keeps us going, that we might re-create some signs of life's continuance...

The war against humanity was insane! It was selfish! It was beyond all conception! My co-survivors and I have long given up trying to understand why this had to happen. We were aware of it escalating, but, too many complacent people did nothing to stop the insanity, and soon, it was out of control, so out of control that if any particular group had tried, they could have done nothing. Yes, complacency is at the top of the list for reasons, as are lack of understanding about love, compassion, tolerance, acceptance, and regard for life in all of its forms. So very sad...

Those of us who managed to survive did so because of our geographical location, and because we were wise enough to know where to hide against the rain of radiation, though, it did not protect us fully, it kept us alive. The mountains had many pockets in them which shielded us to a large degree, though, we suffered as they collapsed around us. The dwellings in which we live, are what is remaining of the mountains. Yes, they sunk that far into the ground, and are now mere hills, though inside is yet rocky...

After we deemed it safe, we ventured out, some of us were badly hurt from fallen rocks and such, but, since some of are healers, the injuries did, indeed, heal. We searched through all the rubble, and found cans and containers which might or might not be tainted by radiation. This was our food and liquid supply. We had to learn ways to create water out of certain liquids, though actually, we are all dehydrated, which is one reason we are so excited about the greenery around us, it might mean that water is now safe for consumption. Testing it will be a very careful process, and we might have to sacrifice a life to test it. It angers me at times that a few groups of people went too far, and we are left to bear the weight of their destruction...

We are not sure if we can reproduce. We are still in the early stages of survival, and while some of us are alright from the waist down, none have been moved to having sexual involvement. There is yet too much to do towards contributing to the re-birth of life. We are looking to our 2 youngest survivors for that possibility, though, that will have to be their choice. Everyone is quite worried about what the radiation damage might do to an embryo, so, we are taking this one step at a time...

I am writing this on a rocky wall, using a coal like shale rock as a writing instrument. I want to leave some messages behind, just in case life does return, and if not, it helps us to create our future, our story of survival, and to map out certain things we need to remember or academically/scientifically work through...

If only people had gotten over themselves. If only they had realized before it was too late, that they are but a minuscule of the overall proportion of life, if only they had love to guide them. Well, it is too late for the ifs. I must stop now, for we are going on a short trip to see what lies beyond our comfort zone. We have to pack up some supplies, and then we are off. I hope we are safe in doing so, but, if not, then we at least, spent our remaining time working towards the good of life, working for life, and giving back to life in the best of our abilities...

Food for thought. In a way you have left your writing on the electronic wall and when THE day comes as certainly it wiil, you may be read by the 'new life forms'.
